LOVE THE 617
Lovethe617 is a movement that actively and tangibly serves the 617 Boston area in an effort to bring hope, love, and dignity to all people.
A movement like this has no boundaries. It’s not bound by the walls of a building. It’s not contained by city limits, state lines or national borders. This movement cannot be stopped. We believe that we are to take this message to the ends of the earth. As NewPeople, we want to lead a movement that reaches to our local community and extends to the corners of the world. Therefore, with great commitment and sacrifice, we physically, financially, emotionally and responsibly take the hope of Jesus that transforms to every life, every city and to the world.
NewCity is committed to the Gospel work going to the “ends of the earth.” It is our value to “Go Sacrificially.” The purpose of NewCity Missions is to demonstrate Christ’s love by meeting spiritual, physiological, and emotional needs of both the local and global community through strategic event planning, resource mobilization, and organizational partnership.
We work to meet the needs of the community through organizing opportunities to pray, give, and serve both the local and global community.
To really engrain a missional mindset into NewCity’s culture, we serve together as a staff/volunteer team, integrate missional service into the CityKids program, develop frequent opportunities for members to serve, and plan occasional church-wide THE CHURCH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING service days, instead of meeting for a service.
We strategically partner with local businesses and organizations that are key influencers in the community.
The end goal is to encourage collaboration between the organizations and partner with them to organize events and help see the community thrive. Through this approach, we started our #LoveThe617 events, where we host opportunities for the Boston area residents to join in serving the community with our #LoveThe617 Events. These events are no-strings attached serving opportunities where we partner with local organizations and non-profits to make an impact on specific areas of the city.
NewCity Church is committed to supporting missionaries and the work they are doing all over the world.
We want to invest deeper in a few missionaries whose area and work aligns closest with our missional vision and efforts. Their missionary assignment is our missionary assignment; our mission teams regularly go and serve onsite. We believe this will build a lasting, relationship-based partnership that provides the best support for the missionary and helps makes missions a focal point in the church’s discipleship process.
